June 5, 2021 Local Runoff Election

WHAT’S ON THE BALLOT?

​

In jurisdictions that require a winner to have a majority of votes cast, runoff elections are held.  The runoff candidates are the two who won the largest number of votes in the May 1 election.  All results below are unofficial until the results are canvassed by the local government.

 

All voters who live in the City of Richardson (both Dallas and Collin Counties) will vote on:

  • Richardson City Council Place 6 (Marilyn Frederick, Arefin Shamsul)

 

All voters who live in the Richardson ISD will vote on:

  • At-large Place 7 (Amanda Clair, Christopher J. Poteet)

 

Voters who live in the City of Garland District 3 View (map) will vote on:

  • Garland City Council District 3 (Ed Moore, PC Mathew)

 

Voters who live in these City of Dallas Districts (map) will vote on Dallas City Council:

  • Places 2 (Jesse Moreno, Sana Syed)

  • Place 4 (Carolyn King Arnold, Maxie Johnson)

  • Place 7 (Adam Bazaldua, Kevin Felder)

  • Place 11 (Barry Wernick, Jaynie Schultz)

  • Place 13 (Leland R. Burk, Gay Donnell Willis)

  • Place 14 (Paul E. Ridley, David Blewett)

Dallas County:

Sample ballots are now available on the website of the Dallas County Elections Department. Individualized sample ballots for the June 5, 2021 election are now available also. Click here to view your individualized sample ballot. Fill in your name and birthdate or fill in the number from your voter registration certificate (where it says "Voter ID"), and you will be able to view your ballot as it will appear when you vote. Click here to view a complete sample ballot listing all jurisdictions in Dallas County.

 

​Collin County:

Sample ballots are available here.  To find your own precinct number, you can look on your voter registration certificate, or you can go to the Voter Registration Search page, enter your name and birthdate, and you will see a copy of your voter registration certificate. Your precinct number is above and just to the right of your name.

CANDIDATE FORUMS

LWV-Richardson Forums:

Due to COVID restrictions, the League of Women Voters of Richardson did not host any in-person candidate forums for the May 1, 2021 local elections. Instead, we held five Zoom forums, covering all of the contested races for the Richardson City Council and Richardson ISD Council of PTAs. Videos of the runoff forums are available on YouTube and this website.  Go here for details on the forums.

LWV-Dallas Forums:

The League of Women Voters of Dallas has cosponsored online candidate forums for some Dallas City Council District runoff races.  Video of the District 11 forum and the District 13 forum are now available online.  View the Dallas City Council Districts map here.

Texas requires proof of identification for in-person voting.  For more information, see our Texas Voter ID Requirements page.

IN-PERSON EARLY VOTING

 

In-person Early Voting for the June 5 election begins on May 24th and ends on June 1st. Any registered voter may vote early in person at any early voting location in their county.

 

Early Voting dates and times for both Dallas and Collin Counties are available on the City of Richardson website.  The Richardson Civic Center is an early voting location for both counties.

Dallas County:

To view Early voting dates, times, and locations for Dallas County, see the Dallas County Elections Department website. Dallas County residents may vote early at any Early Voting location in Dallas County.

 

Collin County:

To view Early voting dates, times, and locations for Collin County, see the Collin County Elections Department website. Collin County residents may vote early at any Early Voting location in Collin County.

ELECTION DAY VOTING

Election Day is June 5, 2021. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The Richardson Civic Center (411 W. Arapaho Rd.) is an Election Day Vote Center for both Dallas and Collin Counties.

 

Lists of Election Day Vote Centers for Dallas and Collin Counties are available.  Both counties use Election Day Vote Centers, meaning that any registered voter may vote in person at any Vote Center in their county
