Registering to Vote

WHO CAN REGISTER?

According to the Texas Secretary of State's website, you are eligible to register to vote if:

You are a United States citizen;
You are a resident of the county where you submit the application;
You are at least 17 years and 10 months old. You must be 18 years old on Election Day to vote in that election;
You are not a convicted felon (you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole); and
You have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

You can find out if you are already registered to vote by checking your county's online database.

Go to the Dallas County Elections Department's website, and under the heading "Voter Information," click on "Voter Lookup" and fill out the online form to find out if you are registered. Note: On that form, your status must be “Active.” Otherwise, you will need to re-register.
If you are already registered, you will see a page with your precinct number and list of all the districts (for example, Congressional district, County Commissioner's district, etc.) in which you will vote.

Go to the Collin County Elections Department's website and fill out the online form to find out if you are registered.
If you are already registered, you will see a copy of your Voter Registration Certificate with a list of all the districts in which you will vote.

On the Texas Secretary of State's website, you can either fill in, print out, and mail a registration application, or you can request that an application be mailed to you.
If you do not have a printer, you can fill out an application online at Register2Vote.org. They will then mail you your completed application form and a stamped, addressed envelope. Sign the form and mail it in. There is no cost to the applicant. Once you've received your ballot, fill it out and return it to your county Early Voting Clerk in time to arrive on or before Election Day.
