The League of Women Voters of Richardson, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The Richardson League educates voters about the issues and candidates in local elections by sponsoring candidate forums, by conducting voter registration drives, and by producing a Guide to Elected Officials.

The Richardson League studies solutions to public policy issues and strives to come to consensus. Issues such as land use, education, public health services, and the city charter have been studied. Many improvements have been championed, including unified polling places, the city’s inclusion in the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Rail System, better regulation of child care facilities, implementation of citywide recycling, expansion of public parks, televising city council meetings, and raising the ratio of nursing and counseling staff to students in public schools.

The Richardson League supports the Community Council of Greater Dallas (CCGD) in their administration of the Child Health Insurance Program (CHIP) We send volunteers to training at the beginning of the school year and to monthly help sessions to enroll families in CHIP.
